Spring Is Slowly Arriving.........................

Well this morning as I was getting ready for work I heard the wonderful song of my first Robin. I called my kids up stairs to see the 2 Robin's sitting in the tree's. Every Spring I always let the kids know when Spring is getting near and the Robin's will be re-locating back to our neighbourhood. So this morning once I heard the bird singing I called the kids to come see it. They were so excited to see the birds come back that they made us late from leaving the house!

Ah it makes me feel refreshed to know that these little guys are back.......

And these will soon turn into...................................

this beautiful bunch of bright yellow daffodils. One of my favorites!

Another one of my favorites...................red tulips. I love these and yellow and have them planted in my gardens.

Soon I will be able to venture out and cut some forsythia brances to force them open in doors. Linda from Behind My Red Door taught me about this and for the past 2 years I have been doing this.

And all the new babies that have been waiting to arrive all winter will finally show their beautiful faces and we'll see all these cuties around. I love baby animals!

Well wishing you all very blessed Spring Day! It's suppose to be a high of 16 degree's here today so I think I will be out walking today!

What a wonderful feeling that Spring is starting to arrive. I have slowly began to get my spring decor out but now that it feels like Spring is here I think I will pull my Easter decor our since Easter is only a month away!

My Kitchen Re-do.........................

Well after much thought of hating my kitchen counter I decided to go ahead and paint it with the caromal colours. I painted it black peppercorn. I am really happy with the way it turned out but the paint it's self is like working with black tar. Karen from APP magazine did her counter top with the same colour. I really liked the black as my knobs & hardware are all black so I thought it would blend nicely. But once I got it down I wasn't overly impressed at how drastic the change was so I searched a few idea's of changing out my back splash. I was over at a friends in October and noticed she had put up a new back splash that looked like stone well come to find out it was wallpaper. So I went to the wall paper place and searched out a paper that I would like to put up.

Well take a look at my newly re-done kitchen. I find myself standing in the kitchen admiring how good it looks.

First is the before of just the counter top.

And here it is with the backsplash up..... much better don't ya think!

I am busy finishing up more painting and re-doing other rooms in the house. I also got my living room/dining room painted as well on the weekend. Used the same colours it just needed a fresh coat to clean things up!

Well I am off to re-arrange the livingroom decor and put things back together! I will share pics when it's all done!

Colonial Floor Cloth

Well after much thought about creating my own colonial floor cloth I finally got busy doing it last weekend. I didn't take any pictures as I just wanted to get it completed b/c it caused my house to be upside down for a while.

Country Sampler has the DIY colonial Floor Cloth created by Janice from Stairway to Home instructions on their website & also Debra from Black Creek Colonial has created one herself. And I totally agree with those Ladies about them not being the easiest. It was fun though when the project was completed and now I can sit and look at it knowing that I created it all on my own. I will love it once we have the carpet ripped out and hard wood put down that I am hoping happens with in the next couple of months.

So take a look at my newest creation! I even think I might try to make a runner for my hallway eventually.

So do you all have snow in your neck of the woods??? We got hit twice this weekend with a blast but not a big one. And tomorrow it's suppose to be a high of 8 degree's so I know it will be gone with the rain that comes. I am enjoying the winter as I don't like the cold and we haven't had much cold weather!

Ground Hog day is on Thursday so lets hope there is only 6 weeks until Spring!!! And hopefully this Spring is a good one unlike last year but winter hasn't felt near as long as last year's did!!!

I am looking forward to getting outside and into my flower beds and seeing all the beautiful spring flowers pop up!

Some snow, a new purchase and my creations!

The weather people said we were going to get about 5 cm of snow Thursday night and it would taper off through the night. Sure................well its Friday night and still snowing and we have about 5 inches so far. Sometimes I really wonder if they know what is going to happen as Mother Nature works in her own way. Although I really enjoyed the weather that we have been having for almost the middle of January I am enjoying seeing everything covered with a beautiful touch of whiteness and forget the blah brown's that the winter months bring us. I do know this winter is going to pass fast as it's already the middle of January and we are just having our first snow fall.

My children were very excited to wake up and find the ground covered. My daugther who is four asked if we could go out and build a snowman when it was still dark out and I could see some grass. My son was up before me and told me to look out the front window that he had spotted a huge snow drift in the front yard! Huge well I have seen alot bigger but now we have some pretty big snow drifts to play in.

Ok so I started this post on Friday night expecting to take some pictures of the beautiful snow fall we had but time got the best of me and I didn't get outside, now it's Tuesday and pouring rain and 90% of our snow is gone and it's 7 degree's outside so no more snow for us. I really do wish Old Man Winter would decide to stay until at least the middle of February because I am tired of this crappy weather.

On a brighter note I got a new drop leaf table on the weekend and I love it, I put it between my front door and front window so I can set up some vignettes for all the season's. I really like it and how I have it decorated. I was also inspired from Janice over at Stairway to Home to create some silhouettes of my children. I have always liked the silhouettes and wanted to create some but never thought to do my kids. Now that was a fun experience because my daughter is such a ham and wouldn't sit properly for me. It was a challenge but finally she sat long enough for me to snap a profile pic of her.

I also created some colonial style portraits. Being from Canada I found a picture of Sir John A MacDonald an old primeminister. And some other photo's. I can't find portraits over here of colonial style so I decided to create my own. They aren't hung yet as I have to re-arrange some things but hopefully this week I will get them up.

Some day I hope to have the real deal but my husband and I decided to put ourselves on a budget for a while so that doesn't allow me much spending money!

Well hopefully you are all enjoying this lovely raining weather! I prefer snow over rain that I guess is coming tonight along with the cold weather again. I sure hope so.

Christmas Decor.........................and lots of it!!!

Here is 90% of my christmas decor. I tried to keep it simple this year as I wanted to clean things out and not have so much clutter. I spent 2 hours going through my attic in October sorting through what I was going to keep and what I would sell in my craft sale. I even still have 2 totes up in the attic that I didn't even get out but couldn't bare to get rid of the stuff just yet. I made $300 from my craft sale and used that to buy my hubby a leather recliner for graduating from Police College.

The first picture is of my table in the sunroom! This is all I did out there this year. Usually I put a tree up out there but since we aren't entertaining I opted out of doing that to create more work when it comes to taking everything down.

My tree, I had it all decorated at the beginning of November with all prim decor. Looked at it over and over and just didn't like it. I needed some sparkle on it. Knowing that I purchased and received lots of beautiful vintage bulbs I decided to change my tree. I added silver beads, vintage bulbs then my daughter and I went up town to see if they still sold tinsel. Can you believe they still do!!! I was so happy! I came home put some tinsel on it and now I look at it with memories of how our tree used to look when I was little! Now I don't like the topper it will be changed next year for sure! But I love just a little sparkle on it!

Well that about does it for my decorating for this year! A lot less than last year but that's ok, one I won't have so much take down and two I enjoy it much more this year!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas........and a huge congrats to my hubby!

Well this is just the beginning of my Christmas decor as I took a ton of pictures and I don't like a single one of them other than this one of my belsnickles that actually has changed since I took this photo so I will post all my new photos this week. I know it's a little late but I haven't had time to think let alone take photo's.

The photo above my mantle is from my grandma & grandpa, they had it up over there piano for years in the dinningroom and I always loved it! So my mom told me I could have it as my grandma is passed away and my grandpa just recently moved into the Long Term Care Home.

My husband is home and graduated from Police College on December 1st. It was a huge ceremony and there was 187 graduates from all over Ontario who graduated that day. They did marching and had a great Ontario Police Pipe Band play. We brought our kids and they loved watching their daddy march and be in his fancy uniform.

Here below is my hubby & myself at his swearing in ceremony at his Police Department that he was hired on for. He was grinning ear to ear waiting to be handed his badge.

Doesn't he look stunning in his uniform! This is his uniform that he would wear only for special occassion's not on a regular basis.

This is him and his chief who handed him his badge! He also gave a great speech that was very personable for both constables that were sworn in that day!

The kids and I are so proud of dad for graduating and acheiving such a huge accomplishment! These past 4 years have paid off and now our new future will begin with many great things to come!!! Looking forward to our new life together and moving on to create new dreams!

Here is my sister, her husband who was hired on 2 years ago with Ontario Provincial Police, my husband who is hired with Chatham Kent Police & myself. I said to my sister that day "8 years ago when we both got married would you have ever thought that our husbands would become Police Officers!" Never in a million years! But this is great for both of us!

Well hopefully most of you are finished your shopping and all ready for Christmas! Me on the other hand still have some gifts to purchase and things to make but will do that this weekend and next week!

Hopefully I can get back with one more post before Christmas of my decor!
